Bourbon vanilla, ground

EAN-Code: 4024297330202

Naturata ground vanilla consists of finely ground organic bourbon vanilla pods and is Fairtrade. For 10 g of bourbon vanilla you need 3-4 pods.

Features:

Naturata’s Bourbon vanilla is cultivated according to certified organic standards by a small-farmers' cooperative in Madagascar – from the Sava region in the north-east of the island, to be precise. It is characterised by its balanced, sophisticated aroma and is not surprisingly known as the “queen of spices”.

All CO2 emissions generated during production and transport of our ground vanilla are offset in collaboration with myclimate.

Production

The vanilla plant belongs to the orchid family and grows in the shade of host plants in mixed cultivation. Each vanilla blossom is pollinated by hand between December and February. The vanilla pods can be harvested around 8 months later. This is the start of an extremely time-consuming process. The pods are blanched, fermented and dried. Only after further processing do they acquire their typical blackish-brown colour and delicate, complex vanilla aroma.

Tips for preparation

Ground vanilla enhances cakes, biscuits, desserts, chocolate drinks, sweet sauces, whipped cream and sugar.
