NATURAVIT COCONUT, 100 % coconut oil
The terms "coconut oil" and "coconut fat" are sometimes used interchangeably. Ultimately, they both mean the same thing. The consistency of coconut fat depends essentially on the ambient temperature. With a melting point between 18 and 23 °C, coconut fat can become soft or even liquid at room temperature.

Production
Coconut oil is produced from the flesh of the coconut. The coconut oil comes from old, existing plantations in the Philippines and is processed directly on site. Here, the coconut flesh is separated from the coconut shell, dried and chopped. Next, the mass is moistened by means of hot steam and hot-pressed (approx. 80-100 °C). Pressing is by mechanical means only. The oil extracted in this way is first coarsely sieved and then left to rest until the suspended solids have settled. It is then poured off and filtered. Then, the raw coconut oil is heated again and hot water and citric acid is added (to prevent any grey tinge). After its complete removal, the oil is treated with steam under high vacuum (deodorising at between 210 and 220 °C). This reduces its own strong, characteristic flavour and smell. No further processing steps follow, in particular no hardening and no transesterification. Similarly, no chemicals are used in extracting or producing the fat/oil.
Tips for preparation
Naturata coconut oil is particularly suitable for use as a frying or deep-frying fat. As part of a balanced, healthy diet, it is recommended not to use coconut oil exclusively. Since it contains only very few essential fatty acids which are important for the human body, coconut oil should be used in combination with other high-quality vegetable oils (e.g. Naturata olive oil, sunflower oil, rape oil and linseed oil).
