Production
Naturata grain coffee for filtering has always been produced at a family-run artisanal business in the Emmental valley in Switzerland.
Prior to roasting, the chicory roots, acorns and figs are chopped and dried; the grain is malted for 1-3 days. During the malting process, the grain, rye and barley, is soaked until it germinates. Next, all constituent parts are gently roasted individually. Here, the experience of the roaster plays a decisive role: it should neither be too long nor too short. Each individual ingredient is roasted for the appropriate time required to achieve a harmonious composition. The roasted ingredients are now only coarsely ground and the grain coffee is ready for filtering.
Tips for preparation
Naturata grain coffee for filtering goes a long way: for approx. five 200-ml cups, put 2 tablespoons of coffee powder (approx. 20 g) in a filter and pour on 1 litre of boiling water. Sweeten the prepared grain coffee to taste or enhance with milk or cream.
Naturata grain coffee can be enjoyed not only as a hot drink or as iced coffee. It also adds a sophisticated touch to desserts and a host of other dishes.
