Sustainability from A to Z

Climate protection and social responsibility are among the key challenges of our time. As a company, we see it as our responsibility to contribute to the responsible use of resources and fair working conditions.

Our actions are guided by long-term environmental, social, and economic goals. We place particular emphasis on protecting human rights, adhering to occupational safety standards, and maintaining reliable partnerships throughout our supply chain.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Diversity, inclusion, and protection against discrimination are guiding principles for us. Good corporate practice encompasses not only the products that are produced and sold, but also the people behind these products. The health, safety, and well-being of individuals are important to us. To underpin our social commitment, we have established a system for maintaining social standards in accordance with the IFS standard. This system includes a Code of Conduct that explains our principles and serves as a code of conduct for us, our suppliers, and subcontractors. The principles contained therein represent minimum standards for our business relationships. It is based on various international guidelines, principles, and laws, such as the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the UN Conventions on the Rights of the Child and Women, the Paris Climate Agreement, and the Supply Chain Act.

SUSTAINABLE RESPONSIBILITY

Managing natural resources also presents a challenge in the organic products trade. Our goal is to provide our customers with high-quality products for the long term while considering ecological and social aspects. We address issues such as biodiversity and fair working conditions together with our partners and stakeholders. Naturata supports measures to promote biodiversity. Furthermore, we are expanding our collaboration with our partners to strengthen long-term supply relationships.

Our commitment to the environment has been supported by EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) validation since 2014. Each year, we define environmental targets and measures, which are documented in our environmental statement. Regular audits by independent auditors accompany this process.

ECONOMIC RESPONSIBILITY

We firmly believe that business should be based on transparency, integrity, and fair competition. Therefore, we have implemented compliance guidelines. Adherence to legal regulations is a matter of course for us. Corruption, bribery, and other unfair practices will not be tolerated. Compliance with food-related legislation is a core aspect of our operations. In collaboration with our business partners, we define clear requirements and implement a comprehensive risk management system to ensure compliance with relevant standards. Our certification according to the IFS Broker Standard since 2021 confirms this. Regular audits by independent auditors accompany this process.

Supporting nonprofit organizations

We regularly support non-profit organizations, for example by donating surplus production quantities or goods with a short shelf life.

Reducing CO₂ emissions

To reduce our CO₂ emissions, we are implementing measures to lower fuel consumption, such as driver training and advice on driving behavior. We also provide financial support to our employees for using bicycles, public transport, or carpooling to promote more environmentally friendly mobility. To further encourage e-mobility, employees with private electric cars can also use the charging stations at the company location free of charge.

Environmentally sound transport

Naturata prioritizes efficient transport routes and explores shorter-distance alternatives wherever possible. However, longer transport routes are unavoidable for certain raw materials, such as cocoa. For selected products, we also offer alternatives made with regionally sourced raw materials.

Last but not least

In our daily work, we also prioritize the responsible use of resources. For example, we use recycled paper and source our office supplies from a sustainable supplier. Deliveries are made in reusable transport boxes, which are then returned and reused to reduce packaging waste. To save electricity in the company building's lighting, we have installed demand-based switches in some areas.
